Oakwood High School Vacancies

The school is the most inner urban and most central Rotherham secondary school and serves an extremely diverse community. We have around 35% of the school population deemed to be ‘disadvantaged’. Each year group is very different and this is not a consistent figure across the year groups.

Two key areas of high and significant levels of deprivation account for around 25% of the school population in total, absorbing a significant amount of additional learning and pastoral team resources. Oakwood works very hard to manage local and national tensions and issues, including historical Child exploitation with children and families being implicated as victims and perpetrators, and Child Criminal Exploitation. Whilst remaining unrelenting in our focus on pupil progress.

A significant proportion of pupils in each year group do not speak English as their first language, with 34 known different first languages spoken by pupils in the school.

With a strong emphasis on respect for all, we forge effective and supportive relationships with both pupils and adults in our learning community. Together we maximise every opportunity to achieve success for all, inspiring pupils to achieve excellent academic progress.

Oakwood High School is an Ofsted rated ‘Good’ school, achieving this judgement in November 2021 and maintaining this outcome from the previous inspection.
